Overview

Start the trip from Jaipur and ends at Agra. Chand Baori or Chand Bawri is a stepwell situated in the village of Abhaneri in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Chand Baori is said to be named after a local ruler called Raja Chanda. The upper stories with the columned arcade around it were built around the 18th century during the Mughal era. Chand Baori is a deep four-sided well with a large temple on the back face of the building. The basic architectural aspects of the monumental well consist of a long corridor of steps leading to five or six stories below ground level which can be seen at the site. Chand Baori consists of 3,500 narrow steps over 13 stories. It extends approximately 30 m (100 ft) into the ground, making it one of the deepest and largest stepwells in India. At the bottom of the well, the air remains 5-6°C cooler than at the surface.

Fatehpur Sikri is a small city in northern India, just west of Agra in Uttar Pradesh, founded by a 16th-century Mughal emperor and used as the capital of Mughal Empire. An abandoned city and one of the most impressive cisterns in India are the two attractions that await you on this day trip to Chand Baori and Fatehpur Sikri from Jaipur with drop to Agra. Chand Baori is a stepwell built over a thousand years ago in the Abhaneri village of Rajasthan. It is one of the largest step wells globally and one of the most beautiful ones. Located in the eastern part of the province of Rajasthan, it was built by King Chanda somewhere in the 9th century. The Chand Baori is not an easy landmark to find; thus, it is one of India's hidden secrets. Stepwells, also called baori, are unique to this nation. The wells have steps built into the sides that lead down to the water. Chand Baori was built during the 8th and 9th centuries and had 3,500 narrow steps arranged in perfect symmetry, which descends 20 m to the bottom of the well. Centuries ago, the step-wells were built in the arid zones of Rajasthan to provide water all year through. Today, the construction is not used as a well anymore, but its exquisite geometry attracts local and international visitors alike. About 64 feet deep, it is India's largest and deepest step-wells with 13 floors and was built in the 9th century for water harvesting
Stop 2
Fatehpur Sikri is a small city in northern India, just west of Agra, founded by a 16th-century Mughal emperor. Red sandstone buildings cluster at its center. Buland Darwaza gate is the entrance to Jama Masjid mosque. Nearby is the marble Tomb of Salim Chishti. Diwan-E-Khas hall has a carved central pillar. Jodha Bais Palace is a mix of Hindu and Mughal styles, next to the 5-story Panch Mahal overlooking the site. The dynastic architecture of Fatehpur Sikri modelled on Timurid forms and styles. The city is built massively and preferably with red sandstone. The city's architecture reflects both the Hindu & Muslim form of domestic architecture popular in India at the time. The remarkable preservation of these original spaces allows modern archaeologists to reconstruct Mughal court life & to understand better the hierarchy of the city's royal and noble residents. Can be accessed through gates along the 8 km long fort wall, namely, Delhi Gate, Lal Gate, Agra Gate, Birbal's Gate, Chandanpal Gate, Gwalior Gate, Tehra Chor Gate & Ajmeri Gate. The palace contains summer palace and winter palace for Queen Jodha
